Village Housing, Hinton Charterhouse

A development of eight country cottages for The Rural Housing Trust Housing Association. The scheme provided homes on the edge of this Somerset village to answer specific local needs ranging from those wishing to remain in the village on retirement and to local young people on a shared ownership scheme who would otherwise have to leave the area. The vernacular forms and pattern of nearby rural housing was closely studied and the scheme won an RIBA South West Design in the Countryside Award.
