New House, Hinton Charterhouse

This new, large country house was given permission and constructed within the Green Belt outside the village of Hinton Charterhouse south of Bath. The clients, moving from a large country house, had a particular brief. The house was to appear as a country farmer’s house of at least two hundred years old. Therefore the building is massed to have a formal central block and side wings suggesting an evolution and extension over time. Inside the house is finished to a very high standard incorporating modern technology and building methods.
